Sky Sports indicated that Ferguson remained alert during initial assessments prior to his transport to medical care.

As manager of United from 1986 to his 2013 departure, Ferguson secured 13 Premier League crowns along with two Champions League honours over an illustrious 26 year tenure.

In total, he lifted 38 pieces of silverware with the team.

A statement from a United official noted that the club could not provide updates on Fergusons condition.
