'Recovery has begun': Christian Eriksen speaks out for the first time after collapsing in a friendly match

"I want to let you know that I am doing well and I'm at home with my family. As you might imagine, receiving a shock from my ICD has had a significant effect on both my family and myself, but I wish to reassure everybody that this was a different scenario from what occurred in 2021. I am okay, and my recovery has already begun."

"Besides being thankful for the support and assistance from all the players and the medical staff on the field, I am also extremely grateful to the doctors who have looked after me and my heart over the years. Because of their expertise, my ICD performed exactly as it was intended to: safeguard me when I required it."

"At the moment my attention is on recuperating, spending time with my family, taking a holiday, and playing football with my children."

Christian Eriksen has had a season he would rather forget, having been relegated from the German Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and missing out on qualification for the World Cup with Denmark
