Queiroz selects 28-player Ghana squad for World Cup preparations and Wales match
Carlos Queiroz has unveiled a 28-player roster for Ghana's World Cup training camp and their upcoming friendly against Wales in Cardiff on 2nd June.
The group, which includes five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven attackers, will start gathering in Cardiff from Monday, 25th May.
Key players such as Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Fatawu Issahaku, and Benjamin Asare have already commenced training at Dragon Park as Ghana enters the decisive phase of their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations.
One of the major talking points is the return of Abdul Baba Rahman to the squad.
The left-back, currently playing in Greece, has been recalled after a strong season with PAOK in the Greek Super League, marking his first call-up since September 2023.
Two other high-profile returns include Olympique Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, who has recovered from a lengthy ACL injury that kept him out for over a year, and Rayo Vallecano defender Abdul Mumin, who also overcame a 13-month injury layoff.
Saint-Etienne's Augustine Boakye and Stade Rennes' Alidu Seidu have been included, along with Ajax Amsterdam's young goalkeeper Paul Reverson, who retains his place with a focus on future development.
The friendly against Wales on 2nd June serves as Ghana's final warm-up before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with one additional match planned in the USA.
Ghana will announce their final 26-player squad on 1st June. Their World Cup journey begins against Panama on 17th June at BMO Field in Toronto, followed by clashes with England in Boston on 23rd June and Croatia in Philadelphia on 27th June.
