Norwegian key player just given four days off by Bodo/Glimt after returning from World Cup
Patrick Berg, who played a part in Norway's hugely impressive World Cup campaign, barely had a chance to set foot on Norwegian soil again before his focus shifted back to club football.
On Monday evening, the Bodo/Glimt standout player returned home from the USA, where he had spent several weeks with the Norwegian national team, where he played a vital role in Norway reaching the quarter-final, which they were finally defeated by England.
During the celebrations in Oslo on Monday night, Berg made it clear that he would quickly be returning to the day-to-day routine at Bodo/Glimt, as the Arctic giants, who reached the Round of 16 last season in the Champions League, will face Frederikstad in the domestic league on Friday.
"My body feels really good," Berg told NRK.no shortly after landing in Bodo on Tuesday evening.
Berg played all matches against France, Brazil, and England and was one of Norway's key players at the World Cup. Before the tournament, he had already completed a long season with Bodo/Glimt.
From January to mid-July, Berg has played 30 official matches for club and country
Now, the Eliteserien, European qualifiers, and more international matches await.
If he plays all the potentially remaining matches, he could end up with around 66 games over the course of the year.
"From the very first moment with the national team, I’ve felt in good form and ready to play and contribute. Now I hope the adjustment to artificial turf and the time difference will happen quickly," says Berg.
The Norwegian Eliteserien restarted on 11-12 July for Matchweek 13, following a mid-season summer pause. The league had previously paused for the World Cup break, with its final games played on 1-2 June. The 30-match season campaign began on 14 March 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on 6 December this year.
Bodo/Glimt currently sit in third place in the Eliteserien, two points behind Tromso at the top. Bodo/Glimt, however, has two matches in hand.
