Morgan Gibbs-White Hails 'Exceptional' Nottingham Forest Performance Against Sunderland
Gibbs-White found the net himself during Forests 5-0 triumph at the Stadium of Light.
After the match the midfielder commented: "Exceptional I never imagined we could surpass our previous outing but we have managed it once more. Hats off to the lads and the self-assurance and faith present in the changing room as we approach matches.
"A large part stems from the manager who instils trust in his squad and boosts our morale during practice to deliver strong showings. We have long recognised our resilience though the campaign began challengingly yet things feel stable these days.
"We possess an effective style of play and we gel well together. The team delivered a remarkable effort."
Gibbs-White expressed delight at witnessing Chris Wood scoring again.
He added: "Early in the term we lacked (Chris) Wood due to his lack of fitness and he served as my primary option. This year presented a changed situation so I aim to deliver into the area more often. I have honed this in sessions and it is yielding results on the pitch hence I am thrilled.
"He (Wood) endured a challenging spell sidelined for an extended time. He returned for some fixtures but had yet to net so my initial idea was to find him with a pass. He merits it having toiled diligently to return fit for the seasons close to aid the squad. I was certain he would finish it.
"As he controlled the ball I wondered if he was offside. Yet forwards intuition positions them perfectly when needed. The moment I played it to him I was confident it would end in a goal."
