Manchester United leaders prepare to propose Michael Carrick as full time manager

The 44 year old assumed control for the remaining games of the season in January after the bitter conclusion to Ruben Amorims troubled spell with the Red Devils.

Manchester United secured Champions League spots with three fixtures left following a two season absence from the event.

Carrick who began on 13 January has triumphed in 10 of his 15 games across various competitions suffering only two losses to lift United from seventh to third in the Premier League standings.

The Athletic indicated that chief executive Omar Berrada and football director Jason Wilcox plan to advise co owner Jim Ratcliffe to extend the position to Carrick during an executive gathering this week.

Manchester United has considered alternative candidates yet Carrick has been seen as the top choice for the vacancy which multiple players have openly endorsed. Certain betting firms have stopped accepting wagers on his selection.
