Man City condemn racist abuse directed towards Semenyo & Guehi in draw with Everton
Everton released a distinct announcement stating that Merseyside Police detained a 71-year-old individual on "suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence" following complaints from supporters and ground staff about racist remarks aimed at a visiting team member.
"He was later granted bail under specific terms, which include prohibitions on entering within one mile of any approved sports ground for as long as four hours prior to kick-off, throughout fixtures, and for four hours following the end of play," Everton declared.
Manchester City appreciated the prompt actions taken by Everton and law enforcement in locating the person involved, at the same time denouncing further harassment aimed at Guehi via online platforms.
Guehi suffered a difficult episode during the match, as his misplaced return ball to custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma let Everton's Thierno Barry seize the opportunity and restore parity midway through the second period.
"We are profoundly upset upon learning that Marc Guehi faced multiple abhorrent racist comments on social media yesterday evening," City remarked.
"We shall persist in extending our complete assistance to both Antoine and Marc, and we refuse to permit discrimination in any shape or form within our sport."
This stalemate positioned City five points behind frontrunners Arsenal, yet Pep Guardiola's team holds an additional fixture to fulfil.
