Luis Enrique admits PSG and Arsenal have taken 'different routes' to UCL showpiece

At the start of the press conference, Luis Enrique spoke about his former teammate Arteta and his team's success in the Premier League.

“I am not surprised he led them to the title. They deserve to win the Premier League, they were consistent. It was not easy with Man City chasing them, but they earned the title.

"In six and a half years, he understands Arsenal inside out," Luis Enrique stated, and drew comparisons between the two finalists' styles.

"It is not a case of two different philosophies," he said when discussing the fact Arsenal possess the best defence in the Champions League, while PSG boast the most prolific attack. "They are also a very high scoring team and we defend well too. We are aiming for the same destination, just following different paths."

PSG have faced Arsenal three times over the past two years, defeating them on the two most recent occasions – home and away in last year's semi finals.

But they are not treating their final preparations lightly. “We have spent time analysing an opponent we know very well; we have played against them on several occasions.

"There are always details you can refine and that is what we do in our training sessions. Managing a final is always different, and you have to make the most of it," Luis Enrique said.

“A final is always a tough match. Last year was exceptional, we dominated against Inter. In the final tomorrow, honestly, I do not think there is a favourite. For us, the devil is in the detail. We will have to give everything for the full 90 minutes, but always enjoy those 90 minutes."

Luis Enrique was also questioned about a leaked video from Arsenal's title celebrations, where Arteta proudly declared, "We will be European champions on Saturday." The PSG boss does not believe his side needs extra motivation or to display such quotes in the dressing room.

"I do not think there is any greater motivation than winning the Champions League. Everything else is just tactics. We have both won our respective leagues, now I am focused on what is best for our team in the final," he said.

"We are trying to remain focused on what matters. We have already written our names in the history books as one of the best teams in the world, and we want to do it again," he added.

This year, Arsenal share the same motivation PSG had a year ago – winning the Champions League for the first time in the club's history. "Yes, winning for the first time is great motivation, but defending the title is even greater," Luis Enrique said with a smile.
