Ligue 1 fixture between Nantes and Toulouse halted after pitch invasion

The players made their way to the dressing rooms as the police dealt with the disturbance by fans before referee Stephanie Frappart decided to call off the game which concludes the season for both clubs.

The choice to end the match for good was taken due to safety issues she explained.

Supporters broke past the barriers and got onto the field at Stade de la Beaujoire where police at first could not contain them before pushing them away.

Some fans seemed to go for Nantes coach Vahid Halilhodzic who was in the dugout for the final time having stated he would finish his career spanning 33 years after this game.

Prior to the last league game on Sunday the relegated Nantes side had won five of their 33 league matches. A bad season saw them positioned second from the bottom. Toulouse are mid table with nothing at stake on the final day.
