Lampard named England's Manager of the Year after guiding Coventry into top flight

Coventry ended the season at the summit of the second-tier Championship, 11 points clear, to secure their place back in the top division, all the while playing an attractive style of attacking football.

The former England midfielder beat seven other managers, among them Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, to claim the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy at the League Managers Association (LMA) ceremony on Tuesday.

"Your character as a manager and leader is so clearly reflected in the way your team has played excellent football this term, with poise and conviction, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them," remarked former Manchester United manager Ferguson.

The Spanish manager Arteta was awarded the Premier League Manager of the Year accolade after steering Arsenal to their first league championship in 22 years.

Andree Jeglertz received the Women's Super League Manager of the Year prize after his side secured the league title and advanced to Sunday's Women's FA Cup Final during his debut season at the helm.
