James Trafford Describes Man City Comeback as Mixed Bag Following Sparse Appearances
A graduate of Manchester Citys youth setup, Trafford secured 29 shutouts across 45 fixtures in the Championship with Burnley during the prior campaign before heading back to the Premier League title winners in July.
He featured in their initial three league encounters yet found his role curtailed mainly to outings in the FA Cup and League Cup after the club brought in Italian custodian Donnarumma on transfer deadline day.
"It has obviously been very up and down throughout the season because I have not played too much and obviously I had a decision to make in the summer," Trafford shared with BBC Sport.
"Everyone always thinks when you make decisions for the best possible outcome and obviously it has not been the best possible outcome, but I have just tried to either improve every day and just try and stay positive, try and stay happy."
Even with few chances at City, Trafford earned his first England cap in March during a friendly clash with Uruguay and is aiming for a spot in Thomas Tuchels World Cup roster.
"Obviously I want to try and make the squad. It will be a great experience for me. It will be brilliant, but I cant do anything between now and then," he continued.
