James Rodriguez Joins Colombia for World Cup After Minnesota United Loss

Prior to the match, Minnesota announced that the midfielder would be permitted to depart and connect with Colombia, leaving just two MLS fixtures before the league halts for the World Cup.

"We are thrilled to back James while he competes for his nation at footballs premier event and extend our best wishes for his preparations and performance in the tournament," Minnesota declared in an official release.

Rodriguez arrived at Minnesota as a free agent back in February, signing a deal due to conclude in the midst of the World Cup in June.

Although United held the right to prolong the contract through to Decembers end, current signals suggest they will pass on that choice, meaning he has now made his farewell outing for the side.
