James Maddison claims referees are terrified of deciding after Tottenham penalty miss
The 29-year-old finally returned to action against Leeds and believed he influenced the match right away in stoppage time.
Maddison fell in the Leeds penalty area after a tackle by Lukas Nmecha yet referee Jarred Gillett dismissed his protests.
VAR examined it thoroughly but following review they upheld the initial call and the match concluded 1-1.
Maddison has now posted on Instagram to explain the incident stating: For clarity the slight touch on the ball that altered its path came from the outer side of my right foot not from Nmecha and I informed the referee of this but the review lasted just about 20 seconds.
Officials seem terrified to make calls on the field these days due to VAR. We will keep pushing. COYS.
