Ivory Coast Select Christopher Operi as World Cup Injury Stand-in
His spot will be filled by left-back Christopher Operi, who was part of the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco at the start of the year but then sustained an injury when the Ivorians defeated South Korea and Scotland in friendly matches in March.
Akpa, with five caps to his name, picked up an adductor injury during training with his French side AJ Auxerre and missed the final round of Ligue 1 fixtures earlier this month.
Operi, who turns out for Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir, has linked up with the Ivory Coast squad at their training camp in Paris.
Ivory Coast are scheduled for a friendly against France on 4 June in Nantes before travelling to the World Cup, where they will face Ecuador, Germany and Curacao in Group E.
