Injured Wesley Ruled Out of Brazil's World Cup Squad, Ederson Called Up
Wesley has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor muscle in his left thigh, which will prevent him from taking part in the 2026 World Cup.
Replacing him is Ederson, a midfielder from Atalanta, who is expected to arrive in the United States on Monday.
At 26 years old, Ederson has built his career in Italy, having played for Atalanta since 2022. This season, he contributed three assists and three goals in 41 matches and is being strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
Placed in Group C, Brazil will begin their World Cup 2026 campaign next Saturday, 13th June, against Morocco.
Haiti and Scotland are the other group opponents for the Selecao.
