Manchester United reportedly finalise signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson
Ederson is poised to sign a four-year contract with the Red Devils, including an option to extend by a further 12 months, a transfer that has been anticipated for several months.
The 26-year-old will replace veteran Brazilian Casemiro, who is set to leave this summer after spending several years with the club, following an emotional farewell at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
He will become the first acquisition of the Michael Carrick era, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming that the deal is expected to be announced shortly.
"Manchester United have officially completed their first summer signing. It was a 'here we go' a few days ago, but now all documents are signed between Manchester United and Atalanta for Ederson. The Brazilian midfielder is now a Manchester United player," Romano reported.
"What remains is for Ederson, after his holidays, to travel to England, undergo his official medical, and sign the contract. I understand that an initial unofficial medical has already been conducted with Atalanta's permission.
"Everything has been agreed between Ederson and Manchester United for months. He only wanted to join Manchester United, and now the agreement has also been finalised between the two clubs on paper."
Ederson was included in Brazil's expanded 55-man World Cup squad but was omitted from manager Carlo Ancelotti's final choice. He will enjoy a well-deserved break this summer, which will simplify his move to Old Trafford as he remains in Europe.
