Imperious PSG stage another comeback to secure the 2025/26 Champions League title

PSG found themselves trailing for much of the final after Arsenal went ahead in the sixth minute through a superb Kai Havertz finish from a narrow angle. The Parisians remained in the contest and pushed for a leveller, with their breakthrough arriving in the 65th minute when Ousmane Dembele slotted home from the penalty spot.

After a tense conclusion to normal time and extra time, the final went to a penalty shootout. In that shootout, PSG's composure on the big occasion proved decisive as they defeated Arsenal 4-3 to keep their title.

Following a resounding victory over Inter in the 2024/25 final, PSG began their title defence in style. Les Parisiens won their opening three league phase matches, which included a 2-1 triumph away to rivals Barcelona.

A patchy conclusion to the league phase meant PSG missed out on automatic progression to the last 16, and they narrowly scraped past Monaco in the play-offs. From that point, however, Luis Enrique's team shifted into gear, dominating English giants Chelsea and Liverpool before squeezing past Bayern Munich in an exciting semi-final contest.

It may not have been a thing of beauty, and it was hardly classic PSG, but they possess a habit of finding a way to win and that is precisely what they achieved.
