Hammarby hammer eight past Orgryte as Mjallby pick up first win of the season

Hammarby 8-1 Orgryte

Having eased to victory over Mjallby in their season opener, the frontrunners for the 2026 championship suffered a setback against Sirius in their latest outing. Orgryte, on the other hand, had managed a draw versus Malmo and a triumph over Mjallby in an ideal return to the elite division.

Yet, confronting a determined Hammarby team eager to bounce back turned that promising beginning into a complete disaster. The scoring started in the 11th minute, as Markus Karlsson set up Noah Persson, who rifled the shot into the upper corner from 25 yards out.

Seven minutes on, Persson assisted the next goal, delivering a corner that was met with a volley at the far post by Nahir Besara, and then Paulos Abraham joined the party in the middle of the first half by slotting home after Victor Lind disrupted the defence.

Orgryte briefly saw a chance to fight back 10 minutes later with Christoffer Styffe nodding in the rebound from a free kick, but Hammarby restored their three-goal cushion immediately afterwards, as Lind capped the attack with a fierce right-footed effort across the keeper - his debut strike for the club.

The home side held off until the 57th minute for their fifth goal, but it proved spectacular, with Besara linking up for Montader Madjed, who drifted in from the flank and bent a sublime effort beyond Hampus Gustafsson.

The closing quarter hour was dominated by substitute Nikola Vasic - shortly after entering the fray, he collected a sharp pass from Frank Adjei and poked it into the net. Gustafsson's day deteriorated further as Lind dispossessed him, crossing for Vasic's simple tap-in.

Five minutes before the end, a driven ball from the left by Lind enabled Vasic to notch his treble from mere yards out, marking Hammarby's largest Allsvenskan victory since 2008. Despite this, the Stockholm outfit languish outside the top three at this nascent point.

Sirius 4-1 Vasteras

Leading the standings with nine points from three matches, Sirius confirmed their dominance via a commanding opening period against newcomers Vasteras at home.

The breakthrough arrived after just eight minutes when Oscar Krusnell was fouled inside the penalty area by Simon Gefvert following a clever exchange with Robbie Ure, allowing Isak Bjerkebo to calmly convert the spot-kick.

Bjerkebo doubled up from 12 yards shortly past the half-hour, after Frederic Nsabiyumva handled a Matthias Nartey attempt, replicating his earlier penalty to deceive Elis Jager.

Vasteras nearly responded by striking the upright, but deep into first-half added time, a probing delivery sparked chaos in their box before Tobias Anker bundled it across the line.

The away team sparked faint optimism eight minutes post-interval as Nsabiyumva redeemed himself by nodding in Marcus Baggesen's set-piece delivery, yet nine minutes on, the contest was sealed when Krusnell headed down a free kick for Henrik Castegren to finish.

Sirius will maintain their two-point lead at the round's conclusion, whereas Vasteras, similarly to Orgryte, hold four points after their promising streak halted dramatically.

Mjallby 3-0 Brommapojkarna

After a tough beginning, Mjallby claimed their initial league success under Karl Marius Aksum, dispatching Brommapojkarna with goals concentrated in the opening 45 minutes.

The tension eased at Strandvallen after five minutes as Ludwig Thorell exploited room in the box to whip the ball into the near corner, and by the 28th minute, they echoed their former prowess when Elliot Stroud's grounded pass was deflected home by Jacob Bergstrom.

The result was secured shortly after, with Jesper Gustavsson teeing up Abdoulie Manneh on the fringe of the area, where he unleashed a rocket off the upright. This propelled the title holders above the bottom spot, surpassing BP whose streak of stalemates has ended.

Halmstad 1-1 Goteborg

In Saturday's finale, Halmstad and Goteborg each earned their opening point of the term through a 1-1 stalemate.

Around the 61st minute, Ludvig Arvidsson's pass in behind located Omar Faraj, who steered it precisely into the near corner for Halmstad's advantage, only for Goteborg to equalise swiftly as Tobias Heintz converted a flicked header from Saidou Alioum.

This marked the Gothenburg team's initial goal this campaign, insufficient to avert their poorest opening since 2023's near-relegation scrape. Halmstad sit 13th, edging the Angels via superior goal difference.
