England manager Tuchel unfazed by poor conditions before warm-up match against New Zealand

England are utilising the match in Tampa, the first of two friendly fixtures before their Group L opening match against Croatia on 17th June in Dallas, to help players adjust to the heat and humidity.

Although persistent rain and cloudy skies have restricted their intended exposure to sunlight, Tuchel stated that the conditions have not interfered with training.

"It simply demonstrated that you can plan all you like, but life follows its own course," Tuchel informed reporters on Friday. "We had a great deal of rain and mostly grey skies, which is very unusual.

Today was the first day with sunshine, a full day of sun, which is exactly what we wanted. We adapt and make the best of it.

Tuchel mentioned that the squad would compensate for lost time, adding: "We haven't had the hours of exposure we desired, but I believe we will make up for it in the coming weeks."

Images of the pitch for Saturday's friendly have sparked worries about the standard of the playing surface and the risk of injury, as the grass appears like a patchwork quilt.

"From what I have heard so far, it should be fine, and of course we want it to be fine," Tuchel said. "I only saw a photo, which made me slightly concerned, but we will make a decision when we arrive."

England are anticipated to make extensive rotations, with Tuchel intending to grant the majority of his players valuable game time.

"The plan for tomorrow is to play 45 minutes each with two full teams, giving everyone the same amount of playing time," he said. "Then we can continue over the next three days with the same training load. At the moment, we stick to the plan."

England face Costa Rica on Tuesday in another friendly before the squad moves to their base camp in Kansas City to prepare for their tournament opener.
