Frank Lampard Honoured as Championship Manager of the Season for Steering Coventry to Promotion
A single point from their 1-1 stalemate against Blackburn on Friday, sealed by Bobby Thomas's strike in the 85th minute, proved sufficient for Coventry to clinch promotion.
The Sky Blues will compete in the Premier League for the first time since the 2000/01 campaign, and Lampard has received widespread praise for his outstanding work.
The former Chelsea icon has been recognised as the Championship Manager of the Season, as his team holds a 10-point lead at the summit with just five matches remaining.
Accepting the accolade, he commented: 'I felt quite moved the other evening, as it truly hit me then just what we had accomplished.
'A team I joined 16 months back that had sunk to its lowest and risen again, and the sport is fundamentally about individuals and fans, something I had truly missed.
'We must acknowledge Mark Robins's contributions at the club, the proprietor Doug King, and cherish this occasion, while I am fortunate to coach such a fine squad.
'Upon entering a team, set aside the sporting skills, which are vital of course, yet if they care for their well-being, practise diligently, back one another, and share some joy, that is the true treasure.
'This is a remarkable tale, and I am delighted to contribute to it.'
