Flashscore insiders claim Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic is keen on a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid

Luka Vuskovic has had a spectacular breakthrough season, cementing his reputation as one of football's most promising young defenders while on loan at Hamburger SV from Tottenham Hotspur.

He quickly became a defensive mainstay for Hamburg this term and boasted the highest challenge success rate in the league (69.1%), while also evolving into a commanding presence and a dependable aerial threat.

Vuskovic, who secured a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season, was the most productive centre-back in the division, scoring an impressive six league goals. His remarkable backheel goal against rivals Werder Bremen was voted the German Goal of the Year.

Tottenham agreed a £12 million deal to buy the highly rated Croatian centre-back from Hajduk Split in 2023. Due to FIFA transfer regulations concerning minors, the move could not be officially completed until the summer of 2025, after he turned 18.

Hamburger SV signed him on a season-long loan in August 2025, with the expectation that he would return to London after the World Cup. However, on the back of his outstanding Bundesliga campaign, he is believed to have been watched by Europe's top clubs, and Flashscore sources now disclose that Luka Vuskovic does not wish to join Tottenham but instead hopes to finalise a transfer to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

After the Bundesliga season ended, Vuskovic commented on his situation in an interview with German media Sport Bild: “I'm torn. In football you cannot have everything you want. The future will reveal what happens. It is, of course, nice that my name is being associated with such big clubs. I also do not know whether everything that is written about other clubs and me is true. I am a Tottenham player. We will see what happens in the summer.”
