During the concluding session of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, held just under two months ahead of the World Cup commencement, Infantino declared his intention to seek the 2027-2031 presidency.

The vote is scheduled for 18 March in Morocco, a country slated to jointly host the 2030 World Cup.

Infantinos stated he felt "honoured and humbled" by the prospect of pursuing a fourth term.

The Italian-Swiss figure assumed the presidency in 2016, succeeding Sepp Blatter, and achieved unopposed victories in the 2019 and 2023 elections.

Over his leadership period, Infantino has championed the growth of FIFA tournaments, including the current North American World Cup as the initial edition with 48 teams, alongside the 2023 womens competition extended to 32 teams.

His administration has encountered backlash concerning topics like steep World Cup entry fees and granting the debut FIFA Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump amid the December World Cup lottery event.

Recently, the executive board of South Americas football authority, CONMEBOL, announced in an official release their complete backing for the 56 year old should he opt to pursue further tenure.
