Eintracht Frankfurt parts ways with Albert Riera after just three months

Eintracht Frankfurt ended their work with head coach Albert Riera after only three and a half months. The club made the announcement one day after the seasons final game which concluded in a two two draw against Stuttgart.

The parting was expected for some time already. Riera did not have backing inside the club and for the first time in six years Eintracht failed to reach European competition. Sporting director Markus Krosche had not given firm support to the Spaniard lately. Riera started on February 1 taking over from Dino Toppmoller.

Open and honest analysis of sporting development

After thorough talks we have together chosen to terminate the cooperation right away said Krosche who recently refrained from committing to the Spaniard.

Riera and his staff gave important contributions via their careful efforts according to Krosche but at the same time following a candid examination of our sports progress we decided that a new direction is needed for the upcoming season.

The club and I have together decided to finish our work together said Riera. As coach I bear responsibility for the sports outcomes and in this period my sole aim was to better the side and achieve success.
