Chelsea's Joao Pedro philosophical after missing out on Brazil's World Cup squad
Ancelotti picked his last 26 man squad for the 2026 World Cup which led to debate since players such as Thiago Silva and Antony were overlooked while Neymar secured a place in the team for the event starting in under 30 days.
Ancelotti noted that Neymar has improved his fitness following the squad reveal at a special event in Rio de Janeiro. He will play a big role in this World Cup.
Even though Neymar made the cut Joao Pedro was left out which came as a blow with videos showing his whole family responding to the setback.
After learning of the choice Pedro shared a message online promising to back the team right through the tournament.
I tried to give my best at all times. Unfortunately it was not possible to fulfil this dream of representing my country in a World Cup but I remain calm and focused as I always try to be.
Joys and frustrations are part of football. From now on I wish good luck to everyone who is there and I will be just another fan cheering for them to bring the sixth title home.
Pedro who has 15 Premier League goals this season had taken part in both of Brazils recent friendlies before the tournament but must now accept he will miss out until he reaches at least 27 years old.
