Champions PSV break 100 goal barrier with resounding win over FC Twente

FC Twente dropped back in the race for the UEFA Champions League place after Ryan Flamingo scored with a strong header to give PSV the advantage inside the first quarter hour. This situation allowed NEC Nijmegen to gain ground in their close competition with Twente and Ajax.

Twente hit back swiftly in fine style as Sondre Orjasaeter curled in a shot that Matej Kovar could only parry into the net.

PSV threatened to restore their lead through Ricardo Pepi yet the American forward was judged offside after netting what appeared to be the two to one in the twenty first minute.

PSV dominated proceedings following Orjasaeters strike as they fashioned most opportunities and almost scored again when Paul Wanner struck the crossbar with a fierce effort in the half hour mark.

After Kovar made a good stop against Twente young Belgian Noah Fernandez put PSV back in front near halftime with a long range finish in the lower corner past Tyton.

FC Twente saw their hopes for a third place finish fade early in the second period after Dennis Man slotted home past the near post.

Guus Til added to Twentes woes by netting PSVs one hundredth goal of the campaign with a low drive that beat the thirty nine year old Tyton.

A penalty in the eighty fourth minute confirmed Twentes defeat as Ricardo Pepi converted from the spot to seal a five to one win. Other results confirmed that FC Twente ended the season in fourth spot in the Eredivisie and will play in the UEFA Europa League qualification stage next campaign.
