Bernardo Silva completes Real Madrid transfer as Man City departure draws near
The midfielder, who is poised to leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of this month, is preparing to head to the Spanish capital at the age of 31.
Bernardo is, of course, expected to be presented as the newest member of the first-team squad at the Bernabeu in the coming days, alongside players such as Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella.
Jose Mourinho is overseeing a significant squad overhaul at the club after two seasons without silverware, a situation the board are clearly unhappy with, leading them to spend heavily.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday afternoon that Silva has reached an agreement with Madrid, with the deal looking all but done.
"BREAKING: Bernardo Silva has now officially put pen to paper on his Real Madrid contract."
"The 'here we go' from a week ago is now confirmed, as the Portuguese midfielder joins on an initial two-year deal with an option to extend. He is wanted by José Mourinho."
Silva leaves City after nine years at the club, during which he helped win every trophy available, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League.
Barcelona, Madrid's arch-rivals, were widely expected to bring Silva to the Camp Nou with next season in mind, but the club failed to act quickly enough.
