Bayern Munich manager Kompany recognises elevated benchmarks after Bundesliga success

Bayern Munich claimed the Bundesliga crown several weeks earlier and now stand poised to secure their initial home double after a six-year gap. The side also advanced to the Champions League semi-finals, succumbing 6-5 across two legs to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the prior week.

"I'll hold off momentarily since the key Cup final looms large for our overall campaign," Kompany remarked at a media briefing prior to Saturdays concluding league fixture versus incoming opponents Cologne.

"Yet in general terms we triumphed in numerous matches, encountered varied sentiments and moments, while many squad members grew. Standards have risen considerably and come next season we aim to advance more, marking our forthcoming challenge."

Over his pair of years steering Bayern, Kompany has guided them to successive league honours.

The group eclipsed the Bundesligas benchmark for goals in one term by striking 117 times, leaving just one outing to complete. The prior pinnacle of 101 strikes endured from the 1971/72 campaign.

Bayern will confront VfB Stuttgart in the German Cup decider in Berlin on May 23, and athletic director Max Eberl affirmed no risk of complacency.

"Our work remains unfinished," he noted. "Victory in the Cup and the double remains attainable.

"Six years have passed without a Cup triumph, yet our achievements thus far, particularly in the league, stand as remarkable."

Kompany, Eberl, alongside the athletes, face a hectic stretch of festivities, featuring customary beer drenchings on the field post-match Saturday, followed by off-pitch rejoicings in Munichs main plaza the subsequent day, shared with supporters during the championship festivity.

"The campaign begins with aspirations of hoisting the league silverware once more, and that instant has arrived, so we shall savour it," Kompany stated.
