Allegri has agreed to take over at Napoli just days after being sacked by AC Milan
The former AC Milan boss is expected to sign a two-year contract, replacing Antonio Conte at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona following the Italian’s departure by mutual agreement at the end of the season.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis acted swiftly to secure Allegri as his top choice, with talks moving forward over the past 24 hours, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The seasoned coach emerged ahead of other candidates, such as Vincenzo Italiano, after an internal selection process aimed at ensuring consistency and high-quality management.
Although the terms have been agreed in principle, administrative paperwork still needs to be finalised before an official announcement can be made.
Allegri also needs to sort out his contractual situation after leaving Milan before he can finalise his return to the dugout.
