Max Eberl on Hoeneß doubts: "I don't care right now"

Hoeneß had previously estimated the chances of the 52 year old staying at "60:40" in a Spiegel top level discussion and also answered yes to the question of whether he still had doubts about Eberl, who joined Bayern on 1 March 2024 as the successor to Hasan Salihamidzic. His contract runs until 2027. Hoeneß is considered both a major supporter and a critic of Eberl.

"Two, three months" until there is clarity

The criticism "doesn't bother me right now", said Eberl after Bayern's 3:0 (0:0) win against VfB Stuttgart. "He said it. We actually talk all the time. We spoke yesterday, we spoke today. That's why the 60:40 was surprising to me. The numbers are there now. We played a very good season with the double. That's what counts for me."

It was his "honest opinion. Those who know me know this: I'm not someone who says today: 'Everything is fine' - and the opposite in four weeks", said Hoeneß in response to the Eberl interview on ARD: "That's the situation - and in two, three months we'll know exactly how things will proceed. Personally, I see it relatively positively for him."
