Haaland's Effortless Form Sees Man City Star Find the Net Once More

Erling Haaland revealed that the key to his outstanding season opener is unwinding with his young son after the Manchester City forward secured another goal in Sunday’s narrow 1-0 victory over Brentford.

The striker netted with his characteristic sharpness in the ninth minute as City overcame a challenging second half to rise to fifth in the Premier League standings.

The Norwegian forward has scored in nine straight matches across club and international duty marking the most extended goal-scoring sequence of his career.

Haaland has already found the net 12 times in nine fixtures across all tournaments this term adding another six goals from two Norway matches with Tottenham remaining the sole side to prevent him from scoring this season.

The 25-year-old feels he is in peak condition both mentally and physically throughout his three-year period at City which has been remarkably fruitful.

To him this is attributed to the arrival of his first child in December.

He stated that he has never experienced a better sense of well-being explaining that success comes from meticulous preparation and the importance of being both physically and mentally prepared for matches.

He shared that becoming a father has enhanced his performance as he now disconnects from the game more effectively allowing him to completely switch off from football-related thoughts.

He added that in his younger days he would often worry about various matters but now after returning home he finds greater relaxation and expressed gratitude towards his son.

Haaland’s 18th goal for club and country this season leaves Anfield as the only stadium where he has yet to score in the Premier League.

Pleased with how he outmanoeuvred Brentford’s central defenders to convert Josko Gvardiol’s long pass with a powerful strike Haaland ranked the goal among his best for City.

He described the effort as one of his finest for the club due to the overall circumstances.

He compared the match to encounters with Stoke City and Rory Delap over a decade ago noting the difficulty of facing a team with strong physicality and frequent throw-ins from the halfway line but praised his side’s preparation and analysis.

Haaland has now scored 94 Premier League goals in just 104 appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

He excelled against Brentford despite intense marking from their tightly packed defence.

It is no surprise that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly keen to pursue Haaland who has been identified as a top transfer priority.

Having signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract in January Haaland remains focused on supporting City’s challenge for the Premier League title against leaders Arsenal who currently hold a three-point advantage.

He acknowledged that breaking down a deep defensive setup with multiple players closing in makes victory especially satisfying.
