I Liga hakkında
Tarihçe, format, organizasyon, medya kapsamı
The I Liga, or the Polish First League, is the second most relevant league in the Polish football system. The league was launched in 1948, and it has been held without any interruptions by a different number of teams each season. It started out having two groups of ten teams, but the most recent revamp settled the number of teams to eighteen.
Being the second league in the Polish football pyramid, the I Liga works under a promotion-relegation system, with two teams earning automatic promotion to the Ekstraklasa, and four more fighting for another spot in a promotion playoff. In terms of relegation, the three lower-ranked teams in the league will be automatically relegated to the Polish Second Football League.
Coverage of this tournament has been awarded to Telewizja Polska, who air and stream the clash via their channels, such as TVP Sport and TVP 1, or via their streaming platform (sport.tvp.pl) or via their app for mobile devices (TVP Sport App). The deal will allow the network to cover the competition until 2027.
