The UEFA Europa Conference League or the UEFA Conference League, as it is known from the 2024-25 season onwards, is UEFA’s third-tier continental club competition, sitting behind the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Founded in 2021, the tournament offers European football to clubs from lower-ranked UEFA member associations and to teams that would otherwise struggle to compete in Europe’s top-tier divisions.

A total of 32 teams take part in the group stage, with the participants either making it through the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying stage or dropping down after getting eliminated in the UEFA Europa League playoffs. Similar to UEFA’s other two club tournaments, this competition follows a double round-robin format, meaning teams face off home and away in the group stage and the knockout rounds, with the final being the only single-leg tie.

The contestants are split into eight groups of four. The group winners receive a bye to the round of 16 while the runners-up move on to the knockout round playoffs where they face the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Europa League group stage. A draw is held to determine the match-ups, with the eight UEFA Europa Conference League group stage runners-up being seeded for this draw. The winners of the knockout round playoffs progress to face the group winners in the round of 16.

Iconic manager Jose Mourinho led Roma to the title in 2021-22, the debut season, with the Giallorossi’s 1-0 win over Feyenoord in the final securing the club their first European silverware in history. An interesting fact: UEFA revealed that the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League final garnered more viewers than the UEFA Europa League final of that same season between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers.

CBS Sports secured exclusive English-language broadcast rights for the UEFA Europa Conference League in the USA for the first three three-year cycles (2021 to 2024, 2024 to 2027, and 2027 to 2030). This marked another significant addition to its lineup of European football coverage. Fans in the USA can watch select matches televised on CBS Sports while Paramount+ provides streaming access live and on-demand for all fixtures. Meanwhile, TelevisaUnivision secured Spanish-language broadcast rights in the USA, which allows them to televise and live stream matches on — but not limited to — TUDN USA, Univision, UniMás, and ViX.

Meanwhile, TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) secured the UK broadcast rights for the first two three-year cycles (2021 to 2024 and 2024 to 2027). The pay-TV sports channels televise the games on the likes of TNT Sports 1, 2, 3, and 4 while live streaming UEFA Europa Conference League fixtures on discovery+.
