Flashscore sources: Man City set James Trafford price tag amid Premier League interest

Trafford joined City from Burnley last summer in a deal worth around £27 million, returning to the club where he came through the academy.

However, his hopes of establishing himself as City's first-choice goalkeeper were quickly dented after they secured the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma, leaving Trafford with limited first-team opportunities.

Sources have told Flashscore that Trafford has made it clear he does not want to spend another season as Donnarumma's understudy.

The 23-year-old is eager to become a regular starter as he looks to further his career and cement his place in the England squad ahead of future international tournaments.

His situation has alerted a number of clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United confirmed among those monitoring developments.

Both clubs are understood to be in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements and view Trafford as one of the standout options available.

Any move, however, is likely to depend on whether Manchester City soften their current valuation. Sources indicate the club values Trafford at around £50 million - almost double the fee they paid Burnley just a year ago.

While the price tag represents a significant increase, City believe it reflects Trafford's long-term potential, his age, homegrown status and his emergence as an England international.

At 23, he is widely regarded as one of the country's brightest goalkeeping prospects, and City are under no pressure to sell.

Meanwhile, City are continuing to plan for the future between the posts, though.

The club have made good progress in negotiations to sign Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles, 20.
