Vitinha claims PSG vs Bayern Champions League encounter will determine the top team

The Portuguese midfielder Vitinha described Paris Saint-Germains home fixture against unbeaten Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday as a showdown between "the two strongest sides in Europe".

PSG approaches this most challenging trial of their European championship defence while leading French Ligue 1 and boasting three victories in three league phase games.

Yet Bayern has launched their campaign with a remarkable European streak of 15 straight wins, positioning them second in the premier continental club league, trailing only PSG.

"We represent Europes top two teams. Bayern is performing exceptionally well. We are also strong, building on our form from the previous season," Vitinha remarked during his pre-match media briefing on Monday.

Regarding which powerhouse holds the edge, the 25-year-old indicated that the Tuesday showdown will provide clarity.

"Tomorrow will reveal the outcome. We must settle it on the field," he informed the journalists.

"As a footballer, these are the games you crave, since everyone anticipates them, and the victor will be deemed the superior outfit."

PSG manager Luis Enrique adopted a more measured tone ahead of the contest.

"Discovering Europes finest team requires waiting until seasons end to count the trophies won by each," the 55-year-old explained.

"At present, their strength is evident. It is astonishing that they have triumphed in their past 15 fixtures. Even securing three or four consecutive wins proves difficult for us."

Although PSG has shown less consistency than Bayern in domestic play, with three draws and one defeat across 11 league matches, Luis Enrique urged fans to "believe" in his squad to outperform the Germans.

"Should I or the fans judge our performance? No, we merit some faith," the Spaniard added.

"However, on Tuesday at Parc des Princes alongside our crowd, we possess the assurance required to counter their intense pressing."
