Union Saint-Gilloise defeat Anderlecht in extra time to secure Belgian Cup

Subs Mohammed Fuseini and Kevin Rodriguez netted within the opening 10 minutes of extra time, as the teams were tied at 1-1 following 90 minutes of action.

Union gained the upper hand in the 74th minute courtesy of Argentine defender Kevin Mac Allister, having largely controlled the match.

Prior to that, a header from a free kick by England-born skipper Christian Burgess was disallowed for offside after an extended VAR examination.

Anderlecht, with fans causing a pause in play through pyrotechnics whose smoke impaired visibility for the players, levelled the score in the 80th minute via a set piece conversion by Mihajlo Cvetkovic.
