South Korea and Japan consider joint proposal for 2035 men's Asian Cup
South Korea and Japan are considering a joint bid to host the 2035 men's Asian Cup, an official stated on Friday, teaming up once more following their co-hosting of the 2002 World Cup.
An official from the Korea Football Association informed AFP that the nations football leaders are exploring multiple possibilities, with partnering with Japan as one viable approach.
At present, shared hosting remains feasible, the official added, emphasising that preparations are preliminary and require initial endorsement from both governments.
The Japan Football Association has yet to respond to AFPs inquiry.
The Asian Football Confederation plans to announce the hosts for the 2031 and 2035 Asian Cups simultaneously in 2027.
South Korea last organised the competition in 1960, whereas Japan held it in 1992.
Saudi Arabia will host the forthcoming tournament in 2027.
Over twenty years ago, South Korea and Japan jointly staged the World Cup using 20 locations, marking Asias inaugural such event.
