Sekhukhune United sign former Mamelodi Sundowns defender

Coetzee, trained at Ajax Cape Town and once regarded as the nations top prospect until injuries derailed his progress, departed Sundowns after the previous campaign and has remained without a team ever since.

He appeared in more than 130 games across eight years with Sundowns, securing 14 titles along the way.

Early in his career, a transfer to Glasgow Celtic seemed imminent, after he momentarily held the distinction of being the youngest Bafana Bafana player at just 17, a feat later eclipsed by Fagrie Lakay.

In his early contributions to both club and national side, he resembled the current Mbekezeli Mbokazi, yet the medical checks at Celtic exposed a persistent knee condition, prompting their withdrawal, after which he moved to Sundowns.

Nevertheless, injuries marked much of his time there, limiting him to only 33 league starting spots over his concluding four years before his exit.

He took part in an extended trial with Sekhukhune back in September of the prior year, yet he has finalised his contract only recently upon achieving full recovery.

He served as a substitute during Saturdays Betway Premiership encounter against Magesi FC.
