Randal Kolo Muani sidelined for Frances World Cup qualifiers due to jaw fracture

The French Football Federation announced on Sunday that Randal Kolo Muani will sit out two upcoming World Cup qualifiers following a jaw fracture and has been succeeded in the national team by Florian Thauvin.

According to the FFF, the Tottenham forward sustained a lower jaw injury during Saturdays match versus Manchester United.

He was substituted at the interval during Tottenhams Premier League draw against United.

Post match, Tottenhams head coach Thomas Frank refrained from detailing the 26 year old French players condition, merely stating it was not a major issue.

With nine goals for France, Kolo Muani ranked as the squads second leading scorer internationally, trailing only Kylian Mbappe who boasts 53.

He joins a growing list of forward injuries plaguing France manager Didier Deschamps.

Paris Saint Germain pair Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue remain sidelined, while Marcus Thuram, recently back in action for Inter Milan after over a month sidelined by a thigh problem, received no call up.

Lens 32 year old Thauvin, a World Cup champion, rejoined the team in October after a six year absence and netted his second goal for France in a 3-0 triumph against Azerbaijan.

A win against Ukraine on 13 November at Parc des Princes would secure Frances spot in the North American tournament.

Should that not happen, Les Bleus get a further chance versus Azerbaijan in Baku on 16 November.
