Postecoglou defiant despite Forest slump

Ange Postecoglou insists that whenever he receives sufficient time at a club, it invariably concludes with him lifting a trophy, even as he strives to secure his role at Nottingham Forest.

The Australian coach, with his side set to face Chelsea on Saturday, has yet to secure a victory in his opening seven matches following his appointment at Forest last month.

The two time European champions, who ended the previous campaign in seventh place under ex manager Nuno Espirito Santo, now sit in 17th position in the Premier League, merely one point clear of the drop zone.

The ex Celtic and Tottenham manager has encountered demands from supporters for his dismissal, yet he continues to enjoy backing from the club's leadership.

As speculation mounts regarding his tenure after only five weeks in post, he remains assured that his Forest tenure will mirror his prior roles by culminating in silverware.

In the last season, he guided Tottenham to Europa League success during his second year there, although a dismal domestic showing ultimately led to his departure.

"Ever since leaving Tottenham, the narrative has centred on our 17th place finish that year," Postecoglou remarked.

"Viewing it through that lens, sure, I come across as an unsuccessful coach fortunate to land another chance.

"However, perhaps I am the kind of manager who, when afforded patience, delivers the same outcome every time. Across all my past teams, it has concluded identically with me holding a trophy."

He continued: "I am working to overhaul our playing style. The squad is adjusting, though elements of uneven performance persist.

"On the positive side, I remain highly enthusiastic about this challenge. I have a talented group of young talents eager to evolve, which marks the initial step, and we are progressing along that path."
