Nancy Vows Continued Push for Improvement Should Celtic Reclaim Premiership Lead

Wilfried Nancy, Celtic's manager, has emphasised that he will keep demanding more from the Scottish title holders even if they climb back to the summit of the Premiership.

The big Glasgow club will match points with table leaders Hearts by defeating Motherwell at Fir Park on Tuesday.

Nancy endured four straight losses in his early days with Celtic yet has now found the path to victories, though the 4-2 win at Livingston on Saturday shows the team has leaked 13 goals under him since replacing interim chief Martin O'Neill.

"Should we take the win against Motherwell and end up in that position, absolutely we will feel pleased," Nancy stated.

“Yet we must focus on readying ourselves for the match, deliver a strong showing, and seize every opportunity to secure victory. Following that, if we find ourselves at the top, so be it."

The French coach continued: "Should that not happen, we understand the campaign stretches on.

"Our aim remains building on our current form. Our goal is to build upon the performance from Saturday, aiming for enhancement.

"It falls to me to urge the squad forward. We achieved much positively on Saturday. I will motivate them to sustain those efforts while also targeting refinements in key areas. All the while, I will stand by them.

"I intend to drive harder. I wish to contribute even more for my team.”

Motherwell fell 3-2 at Parkhead back in October, with Daizen Maeda nodding in a last-gasp equaliser for Celtic.

Jens Berthel Askou's outfit also clinched a tight win over Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, halting a run of 10 unbeaten league outings.

Nancy remarked: "I anticipate an engaging encounter, having watched them in action, as it is a side that enjoys possession. It will differ somewhat, I believe.

“They retain physicality, yet they favour playing out from the back. The manager has not long been in post, and their style has shifted from what it once was.

“Thus, a thrilling matchup awaits. A tough one, but we embrace the test."
