Manuel Pellegrini credits Real Betiss Champions League place to their determination

Real Betis secured a 2-1 victory at home against Elche, courtesy of Pablo Fornalss 68th minute decisive goal, securing their entry into Europes elite tournament for the first time since the 2005-06 campaign.

The club has become a familiar presence in European fixtures over the past few years, earning qualification each season from 2021 and progressing to the Conference League final versus Chelsea in the prior year.

"It is not straightforward to feature in European tournaments across six years, let alone to secure Champions League qualification with two games still remaining in the season," said Pellegrini, aged 72, to the media.

"The squads biggest achievement has been their ability to recover from defeats. Those setbacks we experienced have been more than offset today by the tremendous festivities in our home ground, shared with our supporters, to whom we dedicate this happiness," he added.

"We kicked off the seasons opening fixture versus Elche, and at the close of the pre match briefing, we inscribed in green, Today marks the start of our path to the Champions League."

Real Betis will next confront the recently titled LaLiga title holders Barcelona on Sunday.
