Liverpool 'enquire' about sought-after Brighton defender Van Hecke

Van Hecke has sought a departure from Brighton ever since last summer, after the Seagulls blocked the Dutch player's transfer. His deal runs until 2027, and as the Netherlands international declines to renew, many anticipate he will depart Brighton this summer.

Voetbal International reports that Liverpool, under Arne Slot, have made enquiries regarding the 25-year-old Van Hecke, whom they regard as a perfect fit for their backline. Joost Blaauwhof's sources at Voetbal International indicate contact between the clubs, while Van Hecke has been engaging with Liverpool for some time.

Liverpool's interest in the World Cup participant Van Hecke remains unaffected by the apparent upcoming renewal of Ibrahima Konaté's contract. He would bolster a central defence featuring Virgil van Dijk, Konaté, Joe Gomez, and the currently injured Giovanni Leoni.

Van Hecke transferred to Brighton from NAC Breda in the Netherlands for €2 million back in 2020. Upon arriving on England's south coast, he has featured in 126 matches across various competitions.
