Frank calls for Tottenham solidarity after Vicario boos

Thomas Frank is seeking to repair ties with Tottenham fans by stressing that the side is "nothing without the supporters" before Wednesdays journey to Newcastle.

Franks tenure leading Spurs hit a rough patch after Saturdays 2-1 home defeat against Fulham, in which keeper Guglielmo Vicario faced boos on the pitch due to a costly mistake that handed over the match winning strike.

Further boos rang out in the loss, highlighting that Tottenhams most recent Premier League triumph at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came on the campaigns opening fixture, as the north London outfit has managed just three victories in their previous 21 home outings.

In the wake of that setback, Frank took aim at certain fans, labelling them as "not real Tottenham supporters".

Ahead of the away fixture versus Newcastle, Frank remarked: "I totally grasp the disappointment. Without victories, frustration is inevitable, and that is perfectly understandable.

"Clubs mean nothing without their fans. No team amounts to anything sans supporters. For Tottenham Hotspur, we are utterly nothing without our brilliant fans. Absolutely nothing. We require one another. Nothing brings us greater pleasure than ensuring their happiness across the board.

"The key message is unity during the games, that is when we must stand together. Booing afterwards is acceptable, yet on the field, my goal is to forge an unbreachable stronghold."

He continued: "Success for any team demands building a stronghold. Achieving that stronghold can only happen collaboratively, with fans and squad united."
