Everton Claim Late Equaliser in Tense Draw with Brentford Amid European Push

Starting level on 47 points, both teams were eyeing European spots.

Brentford had managed draws in their prior three fixtures yet swiftly banished any cobwebs following more than three weeks without action.

Within the opening two minutes, Kevin Schade charged towards goal only to be upended by Jordan Pickford, rendering the Everton keeper powerless as Thiago coolly converted the penalty.

Brentford stayed mostly comfortable until Everton sparked into action around the halfway mark of the first half. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall whipped in an excellent cross, though Beto just failed to connect in time.

Soon after, the powerful forward proved sharper, shrugging off his defender to head home from near point blank and level the scores for Everton, marking his third goal across two games.

The match stayed tied entering the break, but the hosts resumed assertively. Nathan Collins headed against the Everton bar as Brentford dictated play early on with fresh intensity after waning towards the end of the first period.

To their credit, Everton weathered Brentfords period of control and nearly went ahead when Iliman Ndiayes deflected shot demanded a fine stop from Caoimhin Kelleher.

As Everton built momentum, Dewsbury-Hall wasted a prime chance when his turn and effort was blocked by Kelleher from close proximity.

That intervention proved crucial as, counter to the flow, Brentford regained the advantage. Michael Kayode fired a low drive after a weaving run, but the ball clipped Thiago for a crucial touch that beat Pickford, giving the Brazilian his 21st Premier League goal this season.

Brentford initially resisted Evertons late onslaught, yet in added time, Dewsbury-Hall hushed the home fans by smashing in a rebound to earn the away side a share of the spoils.

Consequently, neither team advances to sixth place, though they stay firmly in contention for Europe.
