Como boost Champions League bid, Juve back to winning ways

Lucas Da Cunha, the captain, netted a stunning goal in the second half to secure a 2-1 victory for Como against Cagliari on Saturday, allowing them to match Roma's points tally in fourth position in Serie A, while Juventus snapped their four-game winless run in the league.

This marks the third consecutive league success for Cesc Fabregas's team, ramping up the challenge for Roma ahead of their Sunday trip to Genoa in the race for a Champions League spot.

Como, yet to feature in any European tournament, will face the Roman outfit at home the following weekend.

Sitting in sixth, Juventus trail both teams by only one point following a commanding 4-0 win over Pisa at home.

"The players' response today was excellent, showing the true spirit of the squad with a mentality that strengthens match by match," said Fabregas, whose Como team had played out a goalless draw against Serie A frontrunners Inter Milan in the first leg of their Italian Cup semi-final earlier in the week, speaking to DAZN.

Como went ahead early at Cagliari courtesy of Martin Baturina finishing off Da Cunha's deflected effort, but Cagliari equalised eleven minutes into the second half via Sebastiano Esposito.

However, the away side clinched the points in the 76th minute when Da Cunha unleashed a powerful shot from distance into the upper corner.

Juventus finally tasted league success since February 1, overpowering Pisa with four goals after the break.

Nine minutes post-interval, Andrea Cambiaso headed home Kenan Yildiz's lofted delivery from near range, then Juventus made it two in the 65th minute.

Pisa, rooted at the bottom, lost possession near their penalty area, Manuel Locatelli struck the upright, and Khephren Thuram tapped in the follow-up for his first strike in months since September.

With fifteen minutes remaining, Yildiz added his tenth goal of the season, and Jeremie Boga capped it off late in stoppage time.

Atalanta in seventh saw their continental aspirations dented even after rallying to a 2-2 stalemate against Udinese at home.
