Kanes substitute hat trick drives Bayern to crushing win over Stuttgart

Harry Kane entered as a substitute and netted a hat trick to help Bayern Munich demolish Stuttgart 5 0 in a Bundesliga match filled with last minute excitement on Saturday.

Kane scored all three goals in the second period to break down Stuttgarts determined defence, as St Pauli and Heidenheim also found the net in added time.

Facing their fifth fixture in just two weeks, Bayern left out key players in the lineup against Stuttgart, including Manuel Neuer, Harry Kane, and Jonathan Tah who all began from the bench.

Under Vincent Kompany, the team kicked off aggressively. Nicolas Jackson missed an initial opportunity, but Konrad Laimer soon put them ahead with a clever backheel finish after 11 minutes.

Stuttgart mounted a comeback towards the interval and could have equalised before the break, but Nikolas Narteys header was disallowed for offside following a prolonged VAR review.

Bayern gained momentum once Kane was introduced in the second half.

The English forward made it 2 0 with a strike from distance, and Josip Stanisic added a third goal with a fine delivery 12 minutes before the end.

Kane converted a penalty for the fourth after Lorenz Assignons handball on the line, then sealed his treble with a simple finish late on.

At 32 years old, he has now scored 17 times in the Bundesliga this term and 28 across all tournaments.

In other action, Christian Eriksen inspired Wolfsburg to end a near year long home win drought with a 3 1 triumph against Union Berlin.

Wolfsburg had gone 14 home matches without a victory, yet they shocked Union with two well crafted goals in the opening half from Patrick Wimmer and Mohamed Amoura.

Eriksen set up the third post interval by capitalising on Stanley Nsokis error to advance and assist Lovro Majer inside the penalty area.

The home side held firm against Unions late push, conceding once via Nsoki while Leopold Querfeld failed from the spot in the closing stages.

Wolfsburgs success was among several upsets, with Augsburg securing a surprising 2 0 defeat of Leverkusen in their debut match after dismissing manager Sandro Wagner.

Dimitrios Giannoulis surprised the Bayer backline for the opener soon after kick off, followed by Anton Kades headed second in the first half.

Meanwhile, St Pauli halted a potential tenth straight loss by drawing 1 1 away to Cologne, and Heidenheim overturned Freiburg 2 1 for the second successive week.

Cologne seemed headed for the points after Said El Malas sharp breakaway goal shortly after restart, but St Paulis English forward Ricky Jade Jones levelled with their only attempt of the game right at the death.

Just a week on from netting twice in stoppage time versus Union, Heidenheim delayed again versus Freiburg.

Patrick Mainka drew level to Johan Manzambis second half strike before Stefan Schimmer struck in the 94th minute to deliver a thrilling home win.
