Silas Andersen arrived in Lisbon on Friday evening and on Saturday completed the necessary medical and physical examinations, both in Lisbon and at the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, which he passed with flying colours.

On Tuesday, the 21-year-old midfielder was officially unveiled as Sporting's fourth signing for the 2026/2027 campaign, after Rodrigo Zalazar (SC Braga), Pedro Lima (AFS), and Issa Doumbia (Venezia).

In his first remarks as a Lion, the Dane offered his initial thoughts on the club and the Portuguese capital, also explaining his decision to move to Alvalade.

"The city is very beautiful and I have already visited the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, which also looks really good", he started.

"Sporting CP compete in European competitions every year, they are back in the Champions League, and it is a fantastic step for young players to develop. (Playing in the Champions League) is something I have dreamed about since childhood. It is something players aspire to, and I can say that it is fantastic to have the opportunity to take this step and play against the best teams in the world", he added.

The Dane also assessed his own strengths and commented on Sporting's other midfield additions.

"I like to carry the ball, score from corners, be a threat, and help the team move forward", he said.

"We have already signed some midfielders and we have pre-season to get to know each other. When the season begins, we will be ready to represent this great club".

Silas Andersen cost Sporting 7.25 million euros, in a deal that could rise to 10 million, with 2.75 million in add-ons.

Following the presentation, the Danish midfielder will leave Lisbon for a brief holiday before returning to Alcochete, where he is expected to report on 30 June.
