'You have to be unique': Guardiola insists Man City successor must stay authentic
Guardiola, who guided City to six Premier League crowns, Champions League glory and the Club World Cup, will depart after this season following ten years in charge.
Enzo Maresca, the Italian formerly with Chelsea and Leicester City who also served as Guardiola's assistant at City, is reportedly the frontrunner for the Manchester club's managerial role.
When questioned if City's hierarchy had consulted him about the next manager, Guardiola stated on Friday: "This isn't a copy paste role.
"You must be distinct, genuine and true to yourself. The new manager will embody his own identity," the Spanish coach remarked ahead of City's season finale against Aston Villa.
"If it becomes an imitation... Each person is individual. It must remain so. That's why everything will work out."
Guardiola exits amid ongoing scrutiny over 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules during his tenure, yet he remains unfazed.
"Because I believe in them," he affirmed.
"I trust them! Our conversations and their conduct give me confidence. Whatever comes, resolution will follow. I have faith."
