Virgil van Dijk Confident in Liverpool's Talent to End Rough Patch

Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk believes the Premier League title holders possess the ability to rebound if they remain united following their latest loss a fourth straight league match against Brentford on Saturday.

The clubs championship bid has unravelled in recent weeks leaving them in sixth position. Top side Arsenal might extend their lead to seven points ahead of Arne Slots team come Sunday.

Once more Liverpool showed vulnerabilities at the back against Brentfords prowess in dead ball situations and quick breaks during the 3 to 2 reversal in west London.

The team has allowed at least two goals in six out of nine fixtures and failed to secure a shutout across their last nine outings.

"Tough to pinpoint exactly. The reality is we have gone nine matches without a shutout" remarked the defender Van Dijk.

"Pointing fingers at one individual the defence or corners is simplistic its a team effort ultimately. All of us must reflect including me.

"Im convinced we can escape this but words alone wont cut it. Well work on getting better. We require unity and backing we need those who rejoiced with us last season to stand by us stronger now.

"Well pull through thanks to our strengths up front and at the rear."

However Slot expressed worry over what he saw as the poorest showing from his squad among the recent setbacks.

The prior three defeats each involved goals conceded deep into stoppage time to Crystal Palace Chelsea and Manchester United.

"Each loss differs yet the real issue is dropping four in succession" Slot noted.

"Looking back the display today struck me as the weakest of the lot."
