Vinicius Junior cleared following Clasico incident

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso announced on Friday that Vinicius Junior will not receive any punishment for his reaction during the substitution in the Clasico.

The Brazilian star argued with Alonso and headed down the tunnel after being substituted in the 72nd minute during last weekends gripping 2-1 victory against rivals Barcelona.

The 25 year old forward apologised to Real supporters, his fellow players, the club, and president Florentino Perez during the week, though he omitted Alonso from his statement.

However, the clubs manager confirmed to Vinicius that the issue is resolved.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Valencias La Liga visit, he said: On Wednesday, we held a session with the entire team and staff, where Vinicius delivered a flawless address.

He expressed himself honestly and from the heart. As far as I am concerned, the situation ended on Wednesday.

Alonso emphasised that there will be no consequences for the Brazilian attacker.

He continued: We are all united and heading in the same direction.

I believe the squad is concentrating on the game, which matters most.

As competitors, every player aspires to play, and that is positive. Now, we aim to progress step by step towards our objectives.

This episode with Vinicius occurs amid ongoing talks for a contract extension, despite his existing agreement running until 2027.

He has contributed five goals in La Liga this term, yet he has been overshadowed as the teams focal point by Kylian Mbappe, who has netted 16 times in 13 outings across competitions so far, following his tally of 44 goals in his debut campaign at the club.

Real lead La Liga with 27 points, six ahead of Barca, and will face ailing Valencia on Saturday.
